Elliptical Machines

Elliptical machines (also called a cross-trainers or elliptical trainers) are stationary exercise machines used to simulate walking or running without causing excessive pressure to the joints, hence decreasing the risk of impact injuries. Some of the noted benefits of elliptical machines include:
• Low Impact Exercise. Elliptical machines reduce the stress and strain on your legs through an elliptical motion. Your feet never leave the pedals. It is like walking in midair. Elliptical machines mimic the natural path of the ankle, knee and hip joints during walking, jogging or running.
• Reduces Joint Strain. To further reduce straining your joints, many elliptical machines are equipped with pedals that conform to your stride. Not only do your feet never leave the pedal, but also the pedal adjusts to the angle of the elliptical stride.
• Reduces Osteoporosis. In comparison to a fitness machine like a stationary bicycle, elliptical machines provide a weight-bearing exercise. Weight-bearing exercises are important to inhibit the onset of osteoporosis.
• Dual Action workout. What makes an elliptical machine unique is the combined upper and lower body workout. In fact, there is no other fitness equipment that simultaneously works as many muscle groups.
Because elliptical machines work the upper AND lower body simultaneously, the heart rate climbs more quickly. Thus, less time is required to achieve more results. The amount of energy expended is optimized. You burn more calories in less time.
Elliptical machines have multiple options to select for various intensity levels, speed, difficulty and more.
